Hopefully, Dying Light 2's next DLC will be a big hit with fans.ĭying Light 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The recent release of Dead Island 2, which was originally going to be developed by Techland but ended up moving over to Dambuster Studios, is proof that the industry is still keen on pitting gamers against hordes of the undead. It's interesting to see that zombie games are still popular in this day and age. The roadmap, which was shared in February, also lists June as the target month for the next update, so that may be when players can expect to see the changes Smektala mentioned. In November 2022, the game received "Bloody Ties," a piece of DLC that incorporated a bloodsport arena and implemented additional loot and a new narrative for players to sink their teeth into. Techland released a roadmap for Dying Light 2 updates, taking numerous steps to improve the overall sequel. While there is no finalized release date for the patch, Smektała says it should be arriving sometime in early summer, so it doesn't sound like there's long to wait until it begins rolling out. With a promise that the studio is going to be "pulling out all the stops," it sounds like fans are in for a treat. Smektała said that the aim is essentially make players "s**t their pants" through the use of new mechanics, some "visual tricks," and "audio scares," adding that the team want horror to be the main focus of the update. In an interview with The Gamer, Techland's Tymon Smektała, the designer behind Dying Light 2, said the new content will add a number of improvements to the game. While it was highly praised for its parkour mechanics, which was probably one of the main reasons fans played the game, it was marred somewhat by significant glitches from day one and what many people felt was a rather lackluster story. It's unfortunate that Dying Light 2 wasn't as well received as its predecessor. While there are quite a few parkour games to choose from, whether it's Assassin's Creed or Far Cry, it still feels like a genre that hasn't been run into the ground yet, and Techland's follow-up to its 2015 zombie FPS is just one more in a growing list. Those eagerly awaiting the next major update for Dying Light 2 will be pleased to know that the developer is promising a lot with the new content, which includes some new tricks, as well as making the experience ever more frightening for players.
